16 STROKES
I attended a one week workshop by Patti Mollica in June, at Hudson River Valley Art Workshop www.ArtWorkshops.com
This acrylic painting was a result of a 15 stroke exercise, the 16th stroke is the red edge, hence the title. I challenge every artist to try this, it's an easy way to help you loosen up in your artwork.

DISAPPEARING AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS
I've been feeling nostalgic toward the disappearing farm buildings as I see them crumbling down more and more over the years. Reproducing them in my interpretation is my way of preserving them.

THE POPPIES GROW ART SHOW
WALTZING POPPIES 2 SOLD
" ECHOES "
Was painted in mixed media as a statement. Although poppies are cheerful, colorful and lively, there is none of that in war. In the painting the poppies are wilted and sad, as they drift off into the distance they appear to turn into a pool of blood. The crosses in the foreground depict the graves of our brave soldiers, they are green as the grass as they have now become one. We must never forget the soldiers in the trenches. Because out of sight is out of mind, I chose to also include the morbidity of the subject.

CANINE THERAPY
This Impressionistic Acrylic I recently painted, is based on a photograph of my friend and his best friend.
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”

PATH OF NO RESISTANCE
I took the photo reference in October 2014, near Port Dover Ontario. The fall colors were beginning to show and the sun was just about to set. Although my 24" x 30" acrylic appears to have resistance along the path, it is only a illusion due to the long dark shadows of the trees.

Quidi Vidi Newfoundland (sold)
I toured Newfoundland this past July and intend on painting a series with the use of my photographs. This acrylic painting shows the area of Quidi Vidi which is a neighborhood in St. Johns. Quidi Vidi is the most beautiful and serene of the area, I hope to return someday.

FISHBONE BOG
This watercolor was painted from an old black and white photograph of a bog up north, somewhere around Kapuskasing Ontario. The dead spruce trees remind me of fishbones. Its a pleasure to add my choice of color to the piece.

This painting represents the entities of our wounded soldiers during the final stages of the war of 1812 to 1814. Hauntingly at Oxford on the Thames they are in uniform with their weapons over looking the torching of the mill.
